The secret is out. Sean Longstaff is pretty good. He wasn’t the only one that performed well in a 3-1 win over Doncaster Rovers. This was a pretty impressive win as the Rovers only made 4 changes to their 7th place squad in League One.

The scoring started in the 14th minute with a great pass from yours truly Sean Longstaff to Tom Allan’s feet for him to tuck the ball in an empty net.

The next goal came from the opposition with 2 minutes left in injury time to end the half at 1-1.

In the 2nd half, Doncaster looked lively and were pressing but it was once again Sean Longstaff who went on a great run, got the ball to Adam Wilson who crossed it in the box to Callum Roberts who made a great finish. 2-1 Black and White

For the 3rd goal, It was Longstaff (Not Sean, his Brother Matty) who slotted a ball under the keeper who was charging for Elias Sorensen who tapped in the 3rd goal for a final 3-1 tally.

After the first match in Group G, Newcastle are top of the group with 3 points. Also with 3 points with a lower goal differential is Grimsby Town in 2nd, Notts County in 3rd and Doncaster Rovers in 4th.

Players to watch for the rest of this tournament are Sean Longstaff, Elias Sorensen, and Callum Roberts. All three players have consistently produced so far this season so it will be something to watch moving forward.
