Newcastle United have refreshed interest in signing Left Midfielder Diego Laxalt from AC Milan.

The Left sided Midfielder joined AC Milan from Genoa for £16M, but it hasn’t gone as planned for the player. He has made 13 Serie A appearances and only 4 of those have been starts. Laxalt also has 4 starts and 5 appearances in the Europa League.

If this name is somewhat familiar to you, that’s because Newcastle have had interest in the player in the past. Newcastle, among other clubs, became interested in the player after his great performances in the World Cup for Uruguay.

The 25-year-old midfielder has a playing style that really fits into Rafa’s systems. He is great at crossing the ball and possesses a surprising defensive skill-set for a midfielder. Rafa could easily use him as a LWB in his 5 at the back formations and move Matt Ritchie up into a more attacking position. Laxalt likes to take the ball up field and is comfortable dribbling and making short creative passes to move the ball.

It is thought that Newcastle could get a cut price deal for the player since he hasn't lived up to expectations at Milan, so here’s to hoping something works out.
