The Belgian is the younger brother of Manchester United Striker Romelu Lukaku. Jordan, was thought to be a mainstay in the Lazio first team, and has been featured for the Belgian National team multiple times.
It is thought that Lukaku has been made available because he was coming off of a knee injury that saw him lose his starting place in Lazio’s first team.
Jordan Lukaku had been struggling with knee injury at the beginning of the season - one of the reasons why he didn’t make Belgium’s World Cup squad either. Was not a guaranteed starter at Lazio.

According to Di Marzio this move would be a loan to buy move. It is unclear whether or not this would be a loan with an option to buy move or a loan with an obligation to buy.

Lukaku would provide Newcastle with much needed cover at the Left Back position, as Paul Dummett is the only Left Back on the roster. Lukaku also is a more offensive minded Left Back, who like Deandre Yedlin would provide Newcastle with pace at the fullback position.
