U23:

(a) Hull City 1-0 W (EFL Cup)

(a) Shrewsbury Town 3-0 L (EFL Trophy)

(a) mackems 2-0 W (PL2)

(h) Middlesbrough 2-2 D (PL2)

4 Played 2 Win 1 Draw 1 Loss 0 GD

Each month, the U23s have gotten better. They still arent “good” but they are getting better. THey accrued 4 points from a possible 6 in the league and that moved them up to 9th place of 12.

In the first match of the month, the reserves faced off against Hull City in the EFL Cup. It was a 1-0 win but perhaps the most impressive thing about the match was the youngsters involved. Ludwig Francilette, Joe White, Elliot Anderson, and 16 year old Dylan Stephenson.

The next match was in the EFL Trophy against Shrewsbury. There wasn't anything to get excited about in this one as they lost 3-0. This loss cemented that NUFC would not advance in the EFL Trophy with 1 match to play in group stages.

The last two matches of the month were PL2, Division 2 fixtures. Beating sunderland 2-0 and drawing Middlesbrough 2-2. Against the mackems, a 2-0 scoreline seemed generous as it could of been way worse. The mackems went down to 10 men after the 1st goal and they never challenged since. Against Middlesbrough, it was the Lejeune comeback game. You also saw, Steve Bruce, Miggy, and both Longstaff’s at the match. Boro were up 2-0 when Jack Young scored his first U23 goal which was a beaut. The 2nd goal came from a Jack Young free kick that was directed in by Oisin McEntee.

Looking ahead to November, the U23s have a busy month. Games 2 and 3 of the PL Cup, the PL International Cup, and one PL2 league match.

U18:

(h) Manchester United 5-2 L (U18 PL)

(a) Liverpool 3-0 L (U18 PL)

(h) West Ham 3-1 W (PL Cup)

3 played 1 Win 0 Draw 2 Loss - 4 GD

The U18s had an average month. Winning a PL cup match but not picking up any points in the League. Because of that, they dropped from 7th place to 11th place out of the 12 teams.

My players to watch are Elliot Anderson, Joe White, and Dylan Stephenson

Looking ahead the U18s will play 2 tough home league matches against Stoke and Wolves and a PL Cup match against Spurs

Goal scorers:

X1: Dylan Stephenson (4), Josh Gilchrist (3), Elliot Anderson (4)

X2: Kain Reed (2)
