NUFC February Loan Report

Covering how all of our Loanee’s did for the month of February

ROLANDO AARONS - SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY (LW)

Aarons has played in limited quantities so far at Sheffield Wednesday but in his first month on loan, he made some of it count. Aarons last two appearances were his best, making his first start against Swansea and got his first assist. In his last match of the month, Aarons dazzled, getting many accolades from SWFC supporters. SWFC won twice and drew three times to complete an undefeated February.

Sheffield Wednesday are currently in 12th place in the Championship

DAN BARLASER - ACCRINGTON STANLEY (CM)

Dan took part in all 4 matches for Accrington which led to 1 win, 2 draws and 1 loss. It was another solid performance for Barlaser and he even got his first League One goal against Southend United on 2/23. Dan is a solid force for Accrington and I expect him to continue that form throughout the season.

JACK COLBACK - NOTTINGHAM FOREST (DM)

Jack started the month absent two matches due to a yellow card accumulation suspension, but he jumped right back in where he left off. Starting and playing the full 90 in the last 3 matches of the month. One of those matches, he was Forest’s captain. Colback continues to be a positive force at Forest.

DWIGHT GAYLE - WEST BROMWICH ALBION (CF)

Started off to another unreal pace for Dwight Gayle as he played in the first three matches of the month grabbing two goals and an assist. Then the down turn happened as Dwight was suspended two matches for diving. It didn't hurt West Brom much though, as they won both matches he was out for. Dwight played a fourth match of the month and started/played the entire match. 3 wins, 2 losses and a draw for the month of February. Overall, still a great loan spell for Gayle.

LIAM GIBSON - ACCRINGTON STANLEY (LB)

Not the greatest month for Gibson. He has only appeared in 1 match for 6 minutes, although he was able to contribute an assist in that short amount of time. The other three matches of the month, Liam was an unused substitute. Hopefully Liam gets to the same form his loanee teammate Dan Barlaser is on. As mentioned above, Accrington won once, lost once, and drew twice. Note: Liam played in the PL Cup with NUFC U23s last week to keep fit.

ACHRAF LAZAAR - SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY (LB)

Lazaar is another silent loanee but there is a bright spot for him. He didn’t play a single minute in Wednesday’s first four matches of the month. Then on the 23rd he started and played the full 90 in a 3-1 win vs Swansea. Three days later he started again and played wonderfully before getting injured and having to come off before HT. Not sure how long Lazaar will be out. Wednesday won twice, and drew three times to complete an undefeated February.

JACOB MURPHY - WEST BROMWICH ALBION (RW)

A good month for Jacob Murphy. He played in 5 of the 6 matches this month scoring two goals in the process. One of the goals is up for Goal of the Month. It seems WBA supporters think he is starting to play very well for them as well. West Brom managed 3 wins, 2 losses and a draw in February.

CALLUM ROBERTS - COLCHESTER UNITED (RW)

Add Callum to the list of NUFC loanees that aren’t playing as much as the club would like. In four total matches this month, Callum only made two short substitute appearances, one for 9 minutes and the other for 12. Colchester boss John McGreal said that Callum has been training well and that his arrival boosted the performances of other players which has made it tough for him to get in the side. Tough to gage what impact he is going to have at Colchester, but hopefully March is better for him. Colchester won twice and drew twice for an undefeated February.

HENRI SAIVET - BURSASPOR (CAM)

Saivet played in 4 matches for Bursaspor, starting in 3 of them. Still no tangible results to show for it as an attacking midfielder. Have to say it’s not looking good for him. Bursaspor has one draw and three losses in February.

Bursaspor currently sit in 16th place in the Super Lig

ELIAS SORENSEN - BLACKPOOL (CF)

A surprisingly tough month for Elias Sorensen. He did not play a single minute for Blackpool this month which is very concerning. It is so concerning that Newcastle actually sent ‘Welfare Officers’ to Blackpool to make sure things are going well during training. Another action NUFC took was to bring Sorensen in for a PL Cup match with the U23s in which he got an assist. Safe to say NUFC is concerned about this loan, hoping for more in March. Blackpool won once, drew twice and lost once.

JAMIE STERRY - CREWE ALEXANDRA (RB)

Yet ANOTHER tough loan spell. Sterry also did not play a single minute for Crewe in the month of February. He is also another one of the players brought in for the PL Cup match to keep match fitness. Sterry scored NUFC’s only goal in that match. Hoping for a better March for him. Crewe had one win, two draws and a loss in February.

Crewe Alexandra currently sit in 14th place in League Two

JOSEF YARNEY - CHESTERFIELD (CB)

A good month for Yarney as he started and played the full 90 in every march this month. Along with starting, Yarney also picking up 3 clean sheets in the process. Good overall month for him. Chesterfield won three and lost once in February.

Chesterfield currently sit in 17th place in the National League.
