The end of the Premier League is here, and that means it is the perfect time for our staff to hand out some awards for the season. Throughout the next few days, our staff will be sharing our picks for various season long awards including our best players, most disappointing players, best signings, and many others. Feel free to disagree with us, in fact call us out on our BS if you hate our takes and tell us why we are wrong in the comments section.
First up, we have our writer picks for our best players of the season. The consensus seems to be Salomon Rondon, who of course won the club’s player of the season award. Rondon had an excellent season while on loan contributing 11 goals and 7 assists for Newcastle.
Bryan Nelson - Ayoze Perez
Without a doubt, Perez is the reason we’ve won many games this season. The only player rivaling this decision was Salomon Rondon. But I chose based off of scoring and last minute ability, and I’ve seen Perez more than once this season come up in big moments that made this season what it was. He is my top player this season.
Elijah Newsome - Salomon Rondon
Sure, if the award was for best half of a season I would consider Ayoze Perez. But, this award is for the full season, so I am awarding it to the man who is responsible for 42% of Newcastle’s goals this season: Joselu. Obviously, I am kidding, this award has to go to Salomon Rondon. Salomon Rondon, a somewhat controversial loan signing, who was brought in to fill in for the “great” Aleksander Mitrovic, contributed to 18 (11 goals, 7 assists) of Newcastle’s 42 goals this season. The man’s work ethic has been praised by fans, pundits, and Rafa alike, as he was the heartbeat of the Newcastle attack all season. If Rondon is gone after this season, it is incredibly difficult to imagine Newcastle can find a decent replacement for the same price.
In other words: we’re screwed.
Graeme Bell - Salomon Rondon
Salomon Rondon, he’s been fantastic. The season started slow for him with a few niggling injuries but since he grabbed his first goal against Bournemouth at home, he has been outstanding. His hold up play has been exceptional, bringing the likes of Perez into the game. Not to mention the vital goals he’s scored.
Kyle (1LostMuffin) - Salomon Rondon
Rondon’s time at Newcastle has been amazing to say the least. He ended the season with 11 goals and 7 assists. He’s second in goals only behind Ayoze Perez, who has 12 goals but has appeared 5 more times than Rondon has. He’s second in assists only behind Matt Ritchie, and most of his assists when to Ayoze in key areas on the field. He also averaged almost a full shot per game higher than the man behind him (Almiron)
Greg Troxell - Fabian Schär
Hes the best defender, had the best goal, and is the best NUFC player from Switzerland. Schär has kept his form from the world cup and hasn’t let up. His pace, passing, and willingness to hit worldies are something we all want more of.

Ben Weiss - Salomon Rondon
Scoring 11 goals and adding 7 assists in the 18/19 Premier League season, Salomon Rondon is my choice for best player. Consistently contributing throughout the year while only missing 6 matches, Rondon was a massive addition to the squad after losing Mitrovic and Hayden from the season before. His future is still up in the air but we wish to have him back!
Cameron Johnson - Salomon Rondon
Eleven goals isn’t an excellent tally for a Premier League striker, but he did more for the team than score. Ayoze Perez would have won this award if he played as brilliantly in the first half of the season. Perez and Schar have a shout, but I’ve gone with Rondon.
