Newcastle United is in the middle of takeover rumors and managerial drama, and the transfer drama that continues to take place is astounding. While the club remains in limbo, they continue to be linked with top talent from around Europe and the world, and now they’re being linked to Barcelona teen, Ansu Fati, who is out of contract this summer with the Catalonian club.
The player and his father are reported to be disappointed with the contract’s financial terms and are said to be willing to hear offers from other clubs. Manchester United, Monaco, Dortmund, and Nice, are all monitoring the situation along with, reportedly, Newcastle United.
While the player would prefer to remain in Spain, luring him away with good financial conditions may not be difficult. For all the aforementioned clubs, it would be an easy thing to do, and a cheap one at that seeing as the clubs would only have to pay a nominal fee for the 16 year old under FIFA compensation rules.
So now for the tea. Can Newcastle even hope to beat out these clubs for a player seen as one of the bright talents of tomorrow?
Yes. And no. It all depends, and I’m really getting tired of writing about it. The club needs to sort out Rafa and the takeover. Any player, youth or veteran, is going to see the current situation as a deterrent. No one wants to sign for a club that has no sense of direction.
But this deal is very doable for Newcastle United, and they could offer more playtime than most other clubs. With Sean Longstaff as an example, Ansu Fati may find the club a chance to gain more experience than he would under the iron fists of Manchester United.
