Both Jetro Willems and Paul Dummett have been ruled out for the rest of the season by Newcastle United training staff. Willems suffered an ACL injury that will see him sidelined for quite some time, meaning that his successful loan spell at Newcastle United has come to an unfortunate end. It is unlikely that the club will move forward with purchasing Willems.
Paul Dummett suffered a tendon injury and according to BBC is facing surgery to fix the issue. Dummett has played a variety of roles for Newcastle United this season and his loss comes at the expense of depth and coverage for what will seem like a depleted Newcastle United defense.
Steve Bruce was disappointed in the injuries, even going so far as to state, “We may have to change our transfer plans too.”
Does this mean the club’s pursuit of offensive players could be put on hold in order to make up for the loss of depth?
