Newcastle United have announced the loan signing of 29 year old left back and England international Danny Rose.

Reports are saying that this a loan deal with a £2m fee, with no option or obligation to buy,. This still gives fans hope that Jetro Willems can rejoin Newcastle next season.

Rose got his start in football in the Leeds United academy, where he was then recognized as a solid prospect and bought by Tottenham Hotspur. He made his debut for Tottenham at 19 as a left midfielder and scored 9 minutes into his debut in a 2-1 win against Arsenal.

Since then, Rose has amassed an impressive footballing career in England playing for Tottenham, Bristol City, Watford, and some League 1 side totaling 275 matches played, with 183 of them being in the Premier League.

This season Rose has only made 12 appearances and has found himself not in the starting 11 under Jose Mourinho. Part of this can be attributed to Rose’s outspoken nature which is likely something Mourinho is not a fan of, but also Tottenham switching to a back 4 has not boded well for Rose even under Pochettino .

Rose is a left back that was known for his pace early on in his career and willingness to get forward. When participating in the offense he is adept at getting wide in 1v1 situations, and being able to either fire in a cross or, more often than not, picking out the pass to set up a playmaker.

In Newcastle’s current system he and Lazaro should take the burden off of Almiron and ASM to have to come so deep to receive the ball as both are able to surge forward and get involved in the attack. This will hopefully allow Almiron and ASM to find themselves in dangerous positions in or around the box.

To nobody’s surprise Steve Bruce was delighted to sign a left back as Newcastle have lost he only two true left backs on the roster to season ending injuries.

Bruce had this to say about signing Rose.

“It’s been clear that we’ve needed some help in the left back position, so we’re absolutely delighted to get a player of Danny’s calibre through the door.

He has proven quality, as he’s shown over several years for club and country, and is a class act. It’s a big coup for us to get him here and we’re looking forward to working with him.”

Rose of course was happy with the deal and is looking forward to joining Newcastle, He is in desperate need of game time ahead of Euro 2020.

Rose had this to say about joining the team.

“It’s a great honour for me to be here. I’m so grateful that the manager has brought me in and I’m looking to repay him in every way I can as soon as I’m playing,

For me, it’s really exciting that I can come here and have the chance to play in front of the Newcastle fans.

Newcastle is one of the biggest clubs in England. I spoke to the manager last night and he told me there were 50,000 fans here at the weekend against Oxford. You can’t go wrong with that kind of passion and support from the fans, and it’s something I’m looking forward to.”

Danny Rose has been registered in time to make an appearance this weekend against Norwich. It is unclear whether or not he is slated to start.
