The Premier League is aiming to resume play behind closed doors according to a report from Sky News. Government officials have told the paper that Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden has been in talks with the Premier League on the best way to resume play and finish the season.

This would be great news for certain clubs, especially Liverpool, who have been dreading the thought of watching their title slowly be taken away from them because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Resuming Premier League play would also boost spirits throughout the United Kingdom. The Daily Mail reported on a story that originated in the Times that the government had in fact been urging the Premier League to resume play because of the current pandemic.

The Premier League has been aiming for a return to stadiums, however, there has been discussions about moving matches to the training grounds.

Either way, this would bring some positivity throughout the United Kingdom and other countries who have fans eagerly waiting to get back into their seats to watch their clubs play some football.

The Premier League isn’t the only professional football league to resume play. The Bundesliga in Germany have plans to resume their season on May 9th after negotiations with the German government.
