If this deal does not get over the line, it would be a travesty on Newcastle United’s part. Newcastle United is looking to sign free agent Ryan Fraser to a deal after the former Bournemouth winger declined a contract extension earlier this year and thus has not played a match since March.
It is unknown how disparate the parties are on contract terms, but the club is desperate to sign another forward after losing Dwight Gayle for around the first thirteen matches of the season.
The odds have been in Newcastle’s favor to sign Fraser as they look to bolster attacking options ahead of the upcoming Premier League season. Signing Ryan Fraser would also give Calum Wilson more reason to sign with Newcastle United to rejoin his former teammate at Newcastle.
The club are in need of more attacking options to improve their scoring form; however, the club also has yet to make serious moves to improve its defense, frustrating fans and pundits.
With the arrival of Ryan Fraser, it would look as if Christian Atsu’s time at the club is ending. Reports have been stating interest from Scottish club Celtic FC as a place where Atsu could revive his career (he was once a promising Chelsea prospect). It isn’t a bad tradeoff, and it would be a commendable act of man management offloading Atsu in favor of Ryan Fraser.
All that is left now is for Newcastle United to get the deal over the line.
