Today Newcastle have announced the signing of Northern Ireland International, 22 year old left-back, Jamal Lewis.
Another one... #NUFC

The left-back joins from relegated side Norwich City for a reported fee of roughly £15m.
Lewis is an exciting young prospect who was one of the few bright spots for Norwich last year. The left-back is an attack-minded player who like Jetro Willems, loves to get forward and take on opposing defenders. He’s excellent with the ball at his feet, a solid defender and a fairly good crosser. It’s no surprise he was an early target of Liverpool this window, and landing him is a coup for Newcastle.
The 22-year old is an exciting prospect and is in line with the Mike Ashley transfer strategy of buying young and selling high. It also has a bit of Bruce’s transfer logic as Lewis is another guy who has some Premier League experience, and there is a good sample size of what he looks like as a Premier League player.

On the move Lewis had this to say.
“It was a little bit unexpected but it was something that I was obviously looking forward to when I heard that there was serious interest, so I’m delighted to be here now.
Newcastle’s such a great club with such history and I knew it was an opportunity I would love to take with both hands.”
Bruce added in his normal analysis, which of course is just him saying how great of a player Lewis is.
“Jamal is a very exciting prospect. I watched him flourish in the Championship two years ago and he made a real fist of it in the Premier League last season.
He is only 22 years old and has a wonderful future ahead of him so I hope he is a Newcastle United full-back for years to come.
It’s been a great week for us with incoming players. We have had to be patient but these players improve us, which is key.”
Lewis fills a huge need for Newcastle at left-back, and with every position filled thus far Newcastle are going to be playing with house money as the window comes to a close.
