Welcome to our weekly CHIP update after Match Day 17! If you are not up to date with the Comin Home Index of Power or need an introduction to it before going ahead with this week’s update, you can always check our introduction by following this link. Other than that, here’s our most-recent update after the last slate of games took place!

Match Day 17 saw predominately top-10 sides taking on bottom-10 sides and the favorite winning so there were no big power grabs in this round.

Fulham’s win at Crystal Palace led the way with Liverpool’s win at Villa Park and our Magpies' win away against the Foxes rounding out the top three results of the week.

For all the modest power changes for the round, there was a clear loser.

Hosting the team previously bottom of the Premier League table and losing is about as bad as it gets. Everton was saved a few power points since the win pushed Wolves up into 18th versus if they had remained lower on the table. However, the CHIP algorithm is still not that impressed and Wolverhampton remains at the bottom of the CHIP table.

Leicester and West Ham remain in the bottom three in the CHIP. Everton drops down into 17th and continues, Frank-ly, to keep themselves open for being Lamparded… er, lampooned… er, lambasted.

As one minor note, Manchester City’s win away at Leeds was a stronger win than Man Utd’s win against Nott Forest at Old Trafford. The extra power points were enough to move Man City into third on the CHIP table.

Here are the full CHIP ranks through MD17.
