Newcastle United weren't active at all in the summer transfer window, bringing in just Loic Remy on loan from QPR. The general feeling is that they will once again be active in the winter transfer window, looking for bargains on players like they've done in the past.
A report out of The Guardian indicates that Alan Pardew will try to bring in American striker Clint Dempsey on a loan spell for the latter half of the season. Dempsey moved to the Seattle Sounders of MLS over the summer from Tottenham, but reportedly had a clause in the deal that would allow him to be loaned out to an English club so he can stay in form for the World Cup.
He's already been linked to going back to Tottenham, and also with Aston Villa, Fulham, Southhampton and Everton.
Dempsey would be an interesting addition to Newcastle, and I'm guessing he would be used on the wing.
