Newcastle United with sights on Bony?

Dean Mouhtaropoulos

Newcastle United have been linked to several strikers as we get closer to the summer transfer window, especially with Alan Pardew making it known the team wants an upgrade to pair with Papiss Cisse. Another player the Toon have been linked to is Wilfried Bony, who currently plays with Vitesse Arnhem, who is mentioned by the Daily Mail as a target.

The 24-year old forward has been excellent since arriving with Vitesse, scoring 31 goals in 30 appearances in Eredivisie. It's rumored that Bony can be had for £12 million, but his valuation on TransferMarkt.com is in the £10 million range.

The problem for Bony, like some of the other strikers Newcastle United have been linked to, is that they will not be the only suitors. Bony hasn't proven himself in the "big leagues" quite yet, but he's been a scoring machine in the Netherlands so far.

Bony has also made 18 appearances for Cote d'Ivorie, scoring 6 goals.
