Aubameyang and Newcastle United talking?

Michael Steele

Once considered the perfect addition for Newcastle United to chase in the summer transfer window and then deemed to be someone who's too expensive, Saint-Etienne striker Pierre Aubameyang appears as if he's still in the plans for the Magpies going forward.

Representatives for Aubameyang have contacted Newcastle, according to a report from The Journal, to gauge their interest in the striker. Newcastle made multiple bids for the 23-year old Gabon striker in the January transfer window, but had their bids turned down by Saint-Etienne who was looking to get more money.

The club is rumored to be moving to more of a 4-3-3 look going forward and many feel that Aubameyang would be a perfect addition to that to pair with Papiss Cisse and Hatem Ben Arfa on the attack.

Many feel that Aubameyang might be out of Newcastle's price range, but if his group is contacting the club to potentially talk contract, that might be a sign that Mike Ashley wants to go get his man.
