Newcastle United interested in Nigerian midfielder

There are some questions with what Newcastle United's midfield and back line will look like heading into the next season after the transfer window. It appears the Magpies are looking at some midfielders however, and the latest one linked to the Toon is Joel Obi.

Obi, 22, suffered a major injury and missed much of the 2012-2013 season while recovering and doesn't appear to be in the plans of manager Walter Mazzarri for the upcoming season and Inter Milan is looking to move the left-footed midfielder, but the transfer cost is unknown.

According to TransferMarkt.com, Obi's price is £6 million, but with recovering from an injury he may be even cheaper. He's appeared 54 times for Inter Milan and seven times for the Nigerian national team.
