Newcastle United have had a trend recently of coming out of left field of sorts on some of their transfer window signings and it appears they might be continuing that trend during the 2013 summer transfer window. The most recent target the Toon have been linked to is French striker Bafetimbi Gomis.
According to French paper Le 10 Sport, Gomis could be on Newcastle's radar as a transfer target after missing out on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who went to Borussia Dortmund.

According to our information, two new options, more ‘prestigious' clubs have emerged and are likely to interest the international. Newcastle would be especially interesting. The English club, after trying to sign Aubameyang, have made inquiries in recent days on the Lyonnais striker.
Newcastle have been linked to the 27-year old Lyon striker in the past, but the report states that Lyon is in a state where they need to sell off some of their players and Gomis is the most likely on the move.
Gomis has capped 12 times for the France national team with three goals and picked up 16 goals in 37 appearances with Lyon last season.
