English winger could be on Newcastle United's radar

Julian Finney

Newcastle United have been linked with a handful of strikers through the first week of the summer transfer window, but have yet to actually sign or bring in any new players. The Toon have now been linked to a forgotten 24-year old winger in Scott Sinclair, who's been keeping the Manchester City bench warm after falling out of favor, playing in just 18 matches in 2012-2013.

There's nothing concrete on the link between Newcastle and Sinclair however, most of the rumors seeming to stem from the fact that the betting odds have skyrocketed from 40/1 to 1/4 for the Magpies to sign the winger. If there is some truth behind the rumor, it would potentially be a very keen signing by... dare I say it... Joe Kinnear in sniping a player off a talent rich team and inserting him into the lineup.

Keeping with the hypotheticals, bringing in a player like Sinclair would allow the Toon to go more of a 4-3-3 look with Papiss Cisse back at the center forward position where he's best at, poaching, and lining up Hatem Ben Arfa and Scott Sinclair at the winger positions.

For now however, it's all just rumors and betting lines.
