Florian Thauvin on Newcastle United's transfer radar

Jamie McDonald

In a minor change of pace, Newcastle United have been linked to Lille attacking midfielder Florian Thauvin according to multiple outlets and Sky Tyne and Wear. The Toon have predominantly been linked to straight up strikers, but now are reportedly interested in the 20-year old French attacking midfielder who can also play on the wing.

Thauvin appears to be out of favor at Lille, but it is still believed it would take a bid around £13 million to get a deal done for the young midfielder.

He has been capped 8 times for the French U-20 team, scoring 6 goals, and scored 10 times in 32 appearances for Bastia in Ligue 1 last season.

Thauvin has supposedly caught Alan Pardew's eye in the past as well, even lobbying a bid for him in the January window, according to The Express.
