It seems almost certain that Newcastle United are going to be losing midfielder Yohan Cabaye before the transfer deadline, which makes their recent reported interest in Wigan 22-year old midfield James McCarthy sensible.
It's said that Wigan want around £15 million for the Scottish midfielder, which would essentially be Newcastle flipping Cabaye for a younger player at the position. Everton are also said to be interested in McCarthy as they've been looking to bolder their midfield.
The Daily Mail is reporting that both Everton and Newcastle are planning to open with an £8 million bid for the player, which would be nearly half of what Wigan feel he's worth.
It appears that the Toon and Joe Kinnear are going to press to the wire at the transfer window, if they even bring anyone in at all.
