Bafetimbi Gomis move to Newcastle United stalled

Newcastle United have reportedly agreed to wages and a transfer fee for Bafetimbi Gomis, but some snags in the deal appear to have stalled it.

Bafetimbi Gomis should be training with Newcastle United right now, but the transfer deal bringing the French striker from Lyon has hit snags and appears to have stalled. It's even gotten to the point where Lyon president Jean-Michael Aulas has stated he's pessimistic that the deal comes to completion and has even said he has filed a complaint that other teams, such as Marseille, are snagging up the deal.

There has also been talk that there is a transfer fee due to Gomis, which has led to a disagreement as to who should pay it, as well as a sell-on fee due to his former club St. Eteinne.

Newcastle United director of football Joe Kinnear also spoke about some of the problems with the deal, but that the Toon weren't going to let outside parties disrupt them and wanted to get Gomis finalized and in.

It appears though that all parties involved want the transfer to Newcastle to get done, as Lyon has to sell the player to help their books and Gomis appears to want to head to the Toon.

It's all meaningless, but Gomis has been liking Instagram photos related to Newcastle, including pictures of kits at St. James Park. He's also interacted with some Newcastle supporters on Twitter stating he's learning English, but isn' fluent in Geordie yet.

Adding both Gomis and Remy to the lineup could be a big boon, as far as goal scoring, for the Toon, but as it stands right now the deal is still stalled.
